On September 18, K-pop group BTS released their album Love Yourself: Her and sold over 1,420,000 copies. It was recorded as the highest in sales on Gaon Chart and made BTS an Album King. Many started to gain interest in BTS’ members.

#Handsome guy that has a gap that changes back and forth from hot to cold

There's a man that goes from warm to cold only with a single smile, and that's Jimin. Normally, Jimin smiles a lot with a soft image and a gentle feel that earned him the nickname "Manggaetteok". But when Jimin is onstage, the expression in his eyes changes and he becomes a cold, handsome guy that’s way different from his usual image.

Jimin was chosen as having a huge gap between his on and off stage self. This is why he has won many fans whose hearts were drawn to him.


#Mochi Sexy

BTS' official "small boy" Jimin has chubby cheeks and has received the nicknames "Mochi" and "Manggaetteok" from his fans. His hands are small that he was (once) afraid of dropping his microphone onstage. As I mentioned, when Jimin is offstage he's simple, but when he goes up onstage, he brings out killer expressions. This is why he got the "Mochi Sexy" nickname.

Jimin was the only member who had to show his abs in the choreography of their debut song, "No More Dream", and recently without him intending to do so, his abs was confirmed in the powerful choreographies of "Mic Drop" and "DNA".


In relation to this, on June 11, 2016, in their Festa BTS Kull FM Third BTS Anniversary, Suga mentioned, "A person I know said Jimin is really good onstage. Jimin knows something." After, J-hope agreed and Suga said, "You see, Jimin has this aura. Jimin has his own sexiness." RM then added, "Mochi Sexy”, and Jungkook yelled, "Mochi Mochi!”. And Jimin's unique name Mochi Sexy was born.

During their debut year, while recording for one of the variety shows, Jimin received the penalty of having whipped cream all over his face. He showed no signs of dislike. He smiled and said, “My face became different or better". Also, (one time) V said when they were complimenting Hoseok, "I've seen those eyes once" (I've watched Hoseok working hard with my eyes); Jimin replied, "You saw his eyes? Those must be beautiful eyes (hardworking eyes = beautiful eyes)”. He analyses and sees things differently from others.

Jimin is also well-known as Jungkook's mom because he always takes good care of BTS' maknae Jungkook. When he was asked by his members what was the hardest thing in his life, he chose, "Jungkook not liking me". When Jungkook was eating his puddings, he smiled and said, "Jungkook-ah, is there anything you want to say to your hyung?" while holding on to him.

Jimin is also known as the "Official Fan Cafe Fairy”. He has been really socially active for his fans. On June 13, during BTS’ Home Party, Jimin said, "I recently saw from the V app chat a comment saying you guys (fans) felt like we’re drifting apart. You guys lifted us up to this point and saying we are drifting apart, that's not right, huh? I misunderstood. Let's not think that way." And he eased fans’ worries.


#Master of Killing Parts

BTS' Main Dancer, "guy with orange hair in Perfect Man", "Fire 333", "intro of Blood, Sweat and Tears" --- these are all phrases that represent Jimin.


In 2015, BTS performed Shinhwa's "Perfect Man" at the MBC Gayo Daejun. Among the members, the person who drew the most attention was Jimin. With hair dyed in orange, at center, Jimin danced the choreography with power. After the performance, many people were asking in online communities, "Who's that guy in orange hair in 'Perfect Man'?"


In 2016, the group dance at 3:33 in the “Fire” music video showed Jimin dancing center, solidifying BTS’ presence to the public. His dance line stood out in the group dance, and this helped build his image.


In the same year, BTS came back with "Blood, Sweat and Tears" and the lyrics from the intro made the stage overwhelming. This performance has Jimin's eyes covered at the start of the choreography. The music, outfits and Jimin's facial acting made the “BST" intro performance the fans’ most loved part.

Members praised Jimin and said, "Jimin has this skill of making non-killing parts into killing parts." BTS' choreographer Son Sungdeuk also mentioned, "He had danced before so his lines are pretty. It's soft but has a powerful charm to it," and recognized him for his dance.


#Falling for the way he talks and his heart-melting voice color

In Mnet’s variety program American Hustle Life, "Finishee Finishee" and in SBS MTV variety program Rookie King (he was drinking shikhae and said), "I really can’t eat this…”. You can see Jimin has loads of aegyo when he speaks. His voice’s low and clear sound like whisper is used a lot in songs.


 In “Save Me”, “Am I Wrong” and even in slow songs like “Lost” and “Hold Me Tight”, Jimin's parts stood out because of his voice. Jimin and Jungkook made a cover of “We Don't Talk Anymore” by Charlie Puth for the fans. They made it with their own style and received huge response.

Jimin has his own unique color in his dance and singing. He once said that he had to rest in the practice room and sleep in the practice room for him to feel relieved. This enormous amount of practice made Jimin become who he is now.
